Day 2 of Hedge Planting at Penlan Uchaf Farm
A Hedge line to Connect the Frenni Fawr Oak Woodland
Activity Outline
Growing Better Connections is coordinating two days of hedge planting at Penlan Uchaf farm in January 2022 to connect the Frenni Fawr Forestry plantation with the Frenni Fawr Upland Oak Woodland. Our aim by the end of the second day is to plant up 250 metres of hedge line to complete the 500-metre stretch, providing a biodiverse corridor between these two woodlands . We will be planting a variety of native tree species including; sessile oak, downy birch, rowan, hazel, and hawthorn. We will also be planting oak trees grown from saved seed, collected from the Frenni Fawr Oak woodland, and propagated during the Tree Seed Propagation event back in 2020.
This event is for you, if you’re interested to learn more about effective tree planting methods, would like to help plant trees to enhance biodiversity in Pembrokeshire, are interested to volunteer your time for a worthy cause, or would like to get fit after Winter feasting!
