Hello,
I’m supporting a friend who has been struggling for some time in rural Pembrokeshire. She has already asked Social Services for help, but was told “no.”
Her situation:
-
Recently lost her job.
-
Her mobility and overall health have declined.
-
Lives rurally with no reliable bus service, no car, and she cannot drive.
-
House has become overwhelming and needs clearing (a skip would help).
-
Home heating is by oil only, but one-off emergency funds such as DAF have been used in the past and Nest does not cover oil.
-
She has two teenage boys living with her.
I know Social Services will eventually step in once it becomes a crisis, but why wait until then? If Social Services cannot help when asked, where else can we go for support?
Are there any local schemes, charities, or community funds that can help with:
-
A skip / house clearance, and
-
Heating oil for the winter?
Any guidance or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you !!
