We are a Youth Club in Pembrokeshire, open five evenings a week throughout the year and welcome all 10-18 year olds.

This activity is for all children aged 10-18.

Tanyard Youth Project provides free and inclusive leisure activities for 300+ children and young people aged 10-25, supporting their mental health and well-being by providing a safe place to go in a deprived rural area. The centre is open six evenings each week, and runs holiday activities, trips and outings too.

Training is provided in Youth Work, Employability and Enterprise Skills and there are lots of opportunities for volunteering.

Young people get involved with arts, crafts, music, sports, film, photography, drama, games, gardening and cooking, and staff are always ready to provide help and advice on a wide range of issues.

On a Monday evening there is a quieter drop-in session for children and young people with anxiety disorders or who may be on the autistic spectrum. This is a tailored session where appropriately trained staff and volunteers provide additional support. Some home-educated children prefer to attend this quieter drop-in as well.
On Tuesday in the daytime there is a weekly peer support group called BESPOKE for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues, and on Wednesdays there is a weekly vocational training session for a local gypsy group.

There is a small film and music studio called the Boatyard, where children and young people can learn to write and play music, to sing and learn instruments, to learn DJ skills and create films and photography. Since 2018 young people have been employed on a film and podcast making project called Postcards and Podcasts (@postcardsandpodcasts), which helps local organisations to promote what they do via modern digital media.

The core provision is the youth drop in, open five evenings a week where young people can make a positive and constructive use of their leisure time, take part in a range of activities, trips and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. During the daytime we also provide an alternative curriculum service in partnership with local comprehensive schools and the 14-19 learning pathways delivering the wider key skills.

During the holidays we work closely with the local youth offending team delivering diversionary and preventative activities and run one off workshops around team building and aspiration.

We also have the Boatyard Studio in which young people can participate in the creative, performance and technical aspects of music, drama and film. The Tanyard prides itself in providing a consistent and all year round youth provision for the young people of Pembroke.
