I read something recently about a trend called “soft socialising”.
The idea is that people still want connection — they just don’t want the pressure that often comes with it. Less performing. Less feeling like you need to be interesting, impressive, switched on. More spaces where you can simply arrive, do something meaningful, and let conversation unfold naturally if it wants to.
And I thought… yes. That’s exactly why The Tea Room feels the way it does and this is exactly how I want it to work.
When I created The Tea Room, I didn’t want another loud networking space. I didn’t want women to feel like they had to pitch themselves or explain who they are in 30 seconds. I wanted somewhere you could log into after a full day, make a cup of tea, and quietly get on with what matters to you — knowing you’re not doing it alone.
Some evenings we chat. Some evenings we’re focused and quiet. Sometimes someone shares a win. Sometimes someone admits they’re tired or stuck. There’s no expectation to be “on”. Just steady, gentle company.
It’s a softer way of being together. And I think we need more of that — especially when we’re building businesses alongside real lives. If this resonates, The Tea Room is open throughout March on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6–8pm. I’d love you to join us.
