What The Hall Has To Offer

Activities At The Hall

In short, we'll entertain you, feed you, give you the chance to socialise and make friends, while all the while you can learn how to improve your health and defend yourself: not bad for a little village hall

There's always a wide variety of classes, activities and events at Llandewi Velfrey Hall. As well as the monthly 'Welcome Friends' coffee morning, Lunch Club and Quiz or Bingo Night, you can also learn aikido, t'ai chi or yoga with us.

Aikido Classes

The art of Aikido, as envisaged by its founder Morihei Ueshiba, aims to produce well-balanced and positive human beings who are able to contribute to their society in general.

It is a martial art which is not about hurting others but about helping oneself.

The philosophy behind it is one of conquering the fear within us all and helping us to realize our full potential as confident human beings.

When practicing we all must develop a strong positive attitude or we will be overwhelmed by the attack, the technique will not work and we will perish.

You cannot practice Aikido with a negative or angry attitude. Aikido develops a calm, relaxed and centered mind not easily distracted or manipulated.

T'ai Chi Classes

T'ai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art initially developed for combat and self-defense, though now for most practitioners it has evolved into a gentle form of exercise and health improving art. It is characterised by a series of deliberate, flowing movements carried out while focusing on deep, slow breathing. Often referred to as 'meditation in motion,' T'ai Chi aims to concentrate and balance the body's purported vital energy or 'qi', providing benefits to mental and physical health.

Yoga and Seated Yoga With Meditation

A gentle and accessible Chair Yoga and Meditation class designed to support relaxation, mobility, and well-being. This one-hour session is suitable for all abilities, including those with limited mobility or wheelchair users.

?‍♀️ What to Expect:

✅ Gentle seated and standing movements (using the chair for support) to improve flexibility, strength, and posture.

✅ Breathing exercises to promote relaxation and reduce stress.

15-minute guided meditation to calm the mind and restore balance.

✅ A welcoming and inclusive space where everyone can move at their own pace.

After class, enjoy a warm cup of chai or herbal tea with light refreshments, offering time to connect with others in a relaxed and supportive setting.

No experience needed: just bring yourself and an open heart.

Everyone is welcome.

Our Play And Picnic Area

Offering stunning views of the distant Preseli Hills, our secluded play and picnic area is a lovely fresh air treat for the whole family

Even though we love our slide, our swings and climbing frame, our baskteball hoop and picnic tables not to mention, of course, those soul nourishing views of the countryside, during 2025 our aim is to raise funds to refurbish, renew and replace the facilities in the play and picnic area.
