Tin Man Tuesday

Here we showcase a fantastic initiative, 'Tin Man Tuesdays'...

Tin Man Tuesday's is a project designed to support Pembrokeshire foodbanks by collecting tins from outside people's homes on a specific time and day. The tins are then delivered to a local foodbank or food redistribution project. Details of Pembrokeeshire foodbanks are at the bottom of the page if you need them.

After a successful start in Narberth, we are now opening the project up to all communities who want to take part. Narberth used 6pm on a Tuesday for their collection - you can choose a day or time to suit you.

So set up your very own Tinman community project today! Perhaps you can have a competition to see who can design the most colourful poster? You can use the image above if you want - just right click on the image and select 'Save image as' :)

Those organising the project should think of a route that encompasses as much of the community as possible and make sure that everyone knows about it - post on your community Facebook page, create leaflets to deliver or put a notice up in the village...but tell everyone and give them enough time to get some tins together.

The Narberth project used these rules - you can copy or adapt as needed.

Tinman Rules

  1. Tins must have at least 3 months until the best before date
  2. Tins must have their original label
  3. Your tin is left in a safe place (doorstep, wall, end of driveway)

We will strive to collect everyone’s tin donations safely.

To collect tin donations we apply physical distancing rules and follow strict hygiene standards to collect donations. We say 'physical' rather than 'social' distancing because we're still happy to chat and be social, from a 2m physical distance.

Many thanks

The Tinman
