When, under a brutal sun, Mathieu Evans fizzes the championship winner past Jeremy Cross it is a special moment at the end of a century of Evans tennis pedigree stretching back to a great grandmother playing on a court in Shropshire in the early evening sun, and spanning decades of local dominance by his father who had won 5 county singles finals way back when. Incredibly, an hour or so later Mathieu would share another once-in-a-lifetime moment with that same father winning the men's doubles title.
