25p Meals at The Point Youth Project in Fishguard

As part of their drop-in provision, POINT Youth project in Fishguard provide healthy meals for young people for just 25p, a brilliant scheme in our humble opinion.

To tackle nutritional health, we provide young people with a healthy 25p meal every day we are open. In the holidays the young people help make the food and are encouraged to try new foods. We are also fortunate enough to have our own greenhouse and vegetable patch on site, where young people grow produce from seed and are able to learn about grow your own.

We also hold ‘blindfolded’ taste challenges where young people are encouraged to rely on their sense of taste, rather than sight, which often surprises young people when they try something blindfolded, which previously they thought they did not like.  The young people also help maintain the garden on a regular basis which has resulted in our youth centre being included on the judging route of Wales in Bloom and Britain In Bloom 2018.

Food Apps (Search on your App Store or Playstore)

Olio Information here

Olio connects neighbours with each other and with local businesses so that surplus food can be shared, not thrown away. This could be food nearing its sell-by date in local stores, spare home-grown vegetables, bread from your baker, or the groceries in your fridge when you go away.

Too Good to Go  Information here

Every day, delicious fresh food goes to waste at cafés, restaurants, hotels, shops and manufacturers just because it hasn’t been sold in time. This app lets you buy and collect this food, so that it gets eaten instead of wasted. You won’t know exactly what’s in your order until you collect it.
