Overview
As a Community Gardener at Fruit & Nut in Cilgerran, you will join an inclusive, friendly volunteer community caring for a public-access garden located behind the football field. The garden is open 24/7 and used by local groups, events, and courses, making it a vibrant and welcoming community space.
Purpose of the Role
To help maintain and develop the Fruit & Nut community garden, supporting seasonal growing activities and contributing to a shared green space enjoyed by the whole community.
Key Responsibilities
- Take part in monthly volunteer days on the first Sunday of every month from 11am–4pm.
- Support seasonal gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, and harvesting fruits and occasional salads/vegetables.
- Help maintain the garden as an accessible, welcoming space for visitors and community groups.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for volunteers of all ages and abilities.
- Optionally participate in activities or events linked to other Ffynnon community gardens.
Personal Qualities & Skills
- Enthusiasm for gardening, nature, or community growing.
- Willingness to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions.
- Friendly, collaborative, and open to meeting new people.
- Suitable for all ages and abilities—no previous gardening experience required.
Time Commitment
Volunteer days take place once a month (first Sunday), with optional opportunities to get involved more widely across Ffynnon’s network of community gardens and events.
